Have you been to the new exhibit in the UNI art gallery? The show entitled "Nature's Toolbox: Biodiversity, Art and Invention." It is a wonderful example of social justice art. The exhibit is a traveling show organized by Art Works For Change Inc. Check this site out for many more great exhibits that could help you as you plan lessons, lead discussions, and grow as an artist/teacher. I spent a great deal of time in there this week and I recommend that you do as well. The show gives a broad perspective of artists interpetations of of this theme. Some artists focused on the biodiversity in our world while others shed light on the destruction and loss of it. I will email you the educator's guide as a great resource for teaching!
My favorite: Isabella Rossellini, dressed as a bee, from the “Green Porno” series of short films on animal sexual behavior.
