Dear Issues and Theories class,
After you read chapter 2 to in A Curriculum of the Imagination and begin our comic book text, please take time to reflect on the following questions:
How has the banking method (Freire refers to) effected your k-12 experience? How might you break down the walls of subject segregation in your classroom? Describe a time when imagination enabled you to question and think about the status quo and how can you encourage your students to do the same?
Update:
Thinking about breaking down walls and our upcoming project at the House of Hope, here are some images of volunteer work on the new building from last Thursday. I LITERALLY watched some walls being broken down to allow construction workers to build new homes for homeless moms and their children! Wow- it gives me chills when things align like that.
