iPad lesson planning

-->

Reflect on your visit to Waverly Shell Rock Middle School.  Students are very comfortable using their iPads and understand how to use the apps on their pad and can easily follow directions in regard to making art on it.
Your goal is to use those skills to teach them about art making using the iPad.

Begin your lesson plan thinking about the end result. What do you want them to get out of the assignment? What will they create to get to this end result? What new skills will they learn?  How will you know if they reached success?

A.) Write out (at least) 3 objectives:
1.)  mastering a function/app on the iPad
2.)  developing new art skills
3.)  thinking creatively and critically and applying prior knowledge and experiences to this new lesson.
B.) Next think about how you want to introduce the assignment and the app they are using.  What will get the students’ attention? Will you use a video, artist website, or other resources?
C.)  How are you going to present the assignment to them?
1.)  a slide presentation?  Try Slide rocket app, Prezi app, or Keynote app
2.)  a  Youtube tutorial video or iMovie to demonstrate the lesson?
3.)  an example piece using the app
4.)  a website with the components of the assignment all together- try weebly.com or Wix.com
D.) Now plan a way to practice and check for understanding
1.)  a brainstorming list or sketch
2.)  stopping to discuss with a partner
3.)  a short quiz to check understanding
4.)  a review of steps
E.) Last think about how you want the students to turn in and be assessed on the assignment?
1.) How will they save and send artwork to a particular place?
2.) How will they upload it to Voicethread and leave a statement or comment?
3.) How will they know what they are being assessed on?  (Remember to look at Chelsie’s great rubrics on her WSR art room website for examples). Students need to see the assessment before they begin the assignment so they aware of all the requirements and work towards the grade they want to receive.

 Happy Planning!
