Making journals with high school students

Meet the artists Dan Eldon and Sabrina Ward Harrison. Both artists started journaling as teeens and have since then published their journals.  Both artists show a wide array of media and stylistic choices in their work, while discussing important moments in their lives as teens and adults.
Think about these questions:
Why is visual journaling an important part of artmaking?
What are some ways journaling can be  incorporated into a lesson?

Our first assignment will be to create a handmade journal.
We will learn how to:
create paste paper
cover a book
sew a pamphlet and/or chain stitch
share ways to incorporate this book into an art class
