1. According to Freire, “Helping
students to name their questions while modeling the kind of curiosity and
enthusiasm for discovering the undiscovered should be central to every
classroom and home in the world.” How can as teachers bring this “epistemological
curiosity” into our classroom? What can we take from the illustrations of
sensing gaps discussed in “Understanding
the Students We Teach: Poverty in the Classroom” and implement it?
2. Rachel Branham talks about the
importance of addressing equality in the public-school system. How can we as
art teachers embrace equality in our classroom?
3. Branham talked about her
experiences and questioning herself as a teacher. What does make a good
teacher? How can we avoid an incidence like Brahman’s reaction and disciplinary
actions towards the student who used profanity?
