Why is it important to focus on Antiracism in k-12 schools?
Read article on Waterloo schools,
"Kingsley Botchway, chief officer for human resources and equity, said the district has identified “three key buckets” of funding through staff input so far. Those would address loss of instructional time, student achievement and promoting equity. Among the ideas are identifying more instructional time, using classroom technology, looking at class sizes and digging into student racial data on achievement."
Waterloo schools is also launching an optional after school program, see article:
"The program is named for the beginning of Black American history — 1619 — and the "freedom schools" that were founded during the civil rights movement, which were free, temporary, alternative schools to educate Black youth on their history and how to fight for social, economic, political and economic equality."
Consider how we can use this information to start our planning for our lesson for Carver MS.
